EPS (Expandable Polystyrene)

EPS has created itself a broad utilization with its flexible structure in respect of processability in many areas and sectors. The fact that it is economical, safe and also recyclable is increasing the interest shown in this product. EPS is preferred and used for building and construction applications:

  • For Insulation Applications with its low thermal conductivity coefficient
  • For Panel Applications as thermal insulation filler for sandwich roof and facade
  • For Decorative Applications with its easy molding and process facility
  • For Foundation Applications which, thanks to its light weight, avoids additional load to the building and ensures high thermal performance
  • For Geofoam Applications under the scope of ground improvement chastening by reducing the maintenance, the application cost and the application time

 

The utilization of EPS in the packaging sector is usable for almost the entire industry and for all consumer products, so EPS is able to provide all properties expected from a packaging material.

  • Durable Consumer Goods (white appliances i.e. refrigerator, dishwasher and washing machine) 
  • Electronic Goods ( TV, stereo, computer, etc.) 
  • Food Products (fruits, vegetable, fish and sea products, meat and meat products, milk products) 
EPS Ravago

Ravago produces EPS in its manufacturing plants in Turkey (Eastchem), Greece (Monotez) & Germany (Ravapor):

 

Eastchem is realising in its facilities located in Turkey an EPS production with an annual capacity over 150,000 tons. Today, Eastchem is not just the single local producer and leading supplier on the EPS market of Turkey, the company is also in the position of an important player in the foreign market in its geography. EPS users in neighbor countries of Turkey, Persian Gulf countries, Caucasian countries, North and West Africa are using particularly the products of the branch Eurocell produced by Eastchem. 

 

Monotez S.A. initially produced only boards of expanded EPS used for thermal insulation of buildings. As from the early 1970s the company’s main activity switched to the production of EPS, as a raw material. The annual production capacity has progressively reached the level of 70,000 tons. Monotez S.A. is the only company that produces EPS in Greece. It, therefore, holds a leading position in the Greek market. During the last several years, the company has increasingly emphasized in export sales for further growth. This export strategy has resulted in a strong presence of Monotez S.A. in Central, Northern and Eastern Europe, as well as in the Mediterranean region. Ravapor, formerly named RP Compounds, commenced its EPS raw materials production in 1996 in its facility in Schkopau, Germany. With new production technologies and a capacity of annually 70,000 tons, Ravapor has got a strong position on the EPS markets of Germany, Middle and North European countries.
